When do we use “avere”?

Let's use avere especially to say that we own something, how old we are and how we feel in some expressions.

Possession
Ho una bicicletta.

Age
Ho trent’anni.

Sensation
Ho fame.

Necessity
Ho bisogno di aiuto.

🇮🇹 How do Italians really say it?
In Italian we say ho 20 anni, not sono 20 anni.

Present indicative

noi	abbiamo	Noi abbiamo tempo.
voi	avete	Voi avete ragione.
loro	hanno	Loro hanno una casa.

Attention: I have, you have, has and have want the letter h. The h is not pronounced.

Negative form

Place non before the verb: Non ho fame. Non hanno tempo.
