When do we use “avere”?

We use avere above all to say that we have something, how old we are and how we feel in some expressions.

Possession
Ho una bicicletta.

Age
Ho trent’anni.

Sensation
Ho fame.

Necessity
Ho bisogno di aiuto.

🇮🇹 How do Italians really say it?
In Italian we say ho 20 anni, not sono 20 anni.

Present indicative

lui / lei	ha	Lei ha 25 anni.
noi	abbiamo	Noi abbiamo tempo.
voi	avete	Voi avete ragione.
loro	hanno	Loro hanno una casa.

Attention: ho, hai, ha and hanno are written with the letter h, which is not pronounced.

Negative form

Put non before the verb: Non ho fame. Non hanno tempo.
